31.12.2013 - Last day of 2013. Last blog of 2013

It is New Year Eve, last day of 2013.  As I am blogging I am also counting down to 2014 and looking forward to see the fireworks from the comfort of my house.  The weather is hazy and cloudy so not sure if can view nice fireworks later, in about 25 minutes.

2013 has been a super duper busy year for fashionably yours at work.  Thus I am praying that 2014 will be less busy year for me at work and give me more time to give back to society.  There is no need for any New Year resolutions.  I know my god will supply all my needs according to his riches in glory.  Just keep praying.

Thank god for the 2 weeks of long vacation for me to relax, recharge and refresh my mind and clear my head.  Fashionably yours unplugged myself from work and truly enjoying my long vacations.  I saw many things, set me thinking and reflecting.  We may not have the best of everything in life but we can make the best of everything that we have.  Sometimes we must take a step back and look at the big pictures and at times take a back seat and let others lead.

We are brought into this world with a mission that God has established for each of us here on earth.  God does not ask us to do things we cannot handle.  He will go before us and make way for courage, confidence and peace if you trust him.

Alright time for fashionably yours to standby to watch beautiful fireworks (tax payers money in the sky).

Wishing everyone a blessed and happy new year 2014.

Cheers

Why do you blog

Have you ever asked yourself this question :  Why do you blog ?

Some blog for fame, money, etc.  It can turn things ugly if one is not careful.  I blog because I wanna share my life and learn from each other.  Not for fame nor monetary. Of course the latter would be a bonus and endorsements of products are welcome too.

If your blog is of good substances, people will read so you don't have to boost or promote your blog. It is all a word of mouth.  I believe all people are smart and can decipher themselves in time to come which blogs are of good substances and worth their time reading.  As long as one is sincere in their blog is good enough.  Don't need to twist and turn so drama mama and use bombastic words.  Keep it simple, easy and pleasure to read.

That is my two cents worth and feel free to answer the question : Why do you blog ?

Thanks and have a nice weekend.

Season

In about 6 weeks, 2014 is arriving.  Soon will be hello 2014 and goodbye 2013.  Looking back this year, I have accomplished most of the stuff I listed down.  In fact it is just those normal daily stuff which at times we will overlook.  Don't set too high a target that you cannot achieve.  Small steps goes a long way.  Don't be too ambitious.  It is okay to make it simple and achievable.

Guess it is also time to make 2014 list.  My 2013 list will follow to 2014 and adding on some to the list.  Praying about it to God's calling. It could be a big leap of faith for me in 2014.  Shall not divulge much since still praying about it.  I am glad one of my colleagues is going on one year sabbatical leave next year for a mission trip in Timor.  Praise the Lord.  Life is not about making money,  there are things in life which is priceless and no amount of money will be able to buy it.  Of course we need money to survive but perhaps sometimes we need things that money cannot buy for us to bring happiness.  There is a point whereby in my life that material goods no longer satisfy me.  So what you have all the Hermes Birkin bags and rolls Royce cars in the world.  It is only possessions.   I am searching for spiritual now.  Perhaps different stage of life have different perspectives and needs.  We all will grow up, mellow with age and become wiser.  We learn as we grow up everyday.

Time for reflections and time to plan for 2014.   In fact, I never plan my foot injury and this intestines infection in 2013. I am sure nobody plan all these in their plans.  This bout of intestines infections is so serious that make me feel so sick.  Seen so many GPs and taking so many medicines.  Also my daddy almost want to admit me to Mount Elizabeth Hospital.  Well seen my family doctor yesterday and on antibiotics now.  With light diet and plenty of good rest, sure I will recover well with the Lord's blessings.  A doctor told me maybe it is God's will for my foot injury and wanting me to rest after working so hard. Let me share this bible phrase Proverbs 19:21 - You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.

Yes we can plan but ultimately the LORD's purpose will prevail.  We need to be flexible in our plans and trust the LORD.   My right foot injury and this bout of bad intestines infection really make me reflect alot recently.  There is a time for everything and things happen for a reason/season.  That is why there are four seasons but in Singapore is either rain, shine, hot or cooling seasons.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.
(Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 ESV)

Miserable

So miserable being down with gastric flu (intestine infections) since last Wednesday till now.  I just wanna quickly recovered from it.  I still have fever fluctuating and it reaches 37.8 degree celsius just now while I was at the clinic seeing doctor.  Tummy is trapping lots of wind and feel so bloated.  So uncomfortable.  Still on light diet.  I am missing all the good food, eg. laksa yong tau foo.  Doctor said this virus is so strong that my fever shot up so high.  I hate this gastric flu.  Let me be well and fit again asap.  Need to drink isotonic so I bought 100 plus edge the non gassy type just now.

It has been a looooong time since I become so sick.  I think I need to rest properly.  Hence took 2 days of leave to rest at home.  Resting means sleeping and no work.  I need to rest, sleep, relax and not tense so that my body can recuperate to recover fast.  Stress and tense can make one tummy trap wind, according to the doctor.  In fact, the doctor advised me to relax.  She encourages me to take up Qigong.  Does anyone know where is conducting qigong classes in Singapore near Holland Village area,  If yes, please let me know. Am keen to take up.  I think should be able to do qigong despite my foot injury is on the recovery stage. Or perhaps later when my foot injury is in  much better stage.

Actually I wanna sign up for zumba class but since my foot injury. It has been shelved. Now time to take up qigong.   Gonna zzzzzzz and rest more so that I can get well soonest possible.

Porridge

Since fashionably yours is down with intestine infections so I couldn't eat much. Vomited some gastric acid just now. Need to eat plain food and drink clear soup to let the intestine heal.
These shall be my meals for these few days. Plain porridge with some pickled lettuce which is my appetizer.
Just want to get well soon. This intestine infection is no joke. Very suffering. At first thinking can do some work but no, my body is telling me to rest with the gastric acid vomitted. Maybe God wants me to rest more.
Shall rest and get well soon then can work more productive. Yawn....getting some restzzzzzz and beauty sleepzzzzzz after taking my medicine

Porridge for my intestine infection recovery journey

Intestine Infection

Fashionably yours caught intestine infections.  I was so sick that I couldn't eat, loss of appetite, tummy churning lots of gas, high fever of 38 degree and had diarrhea umpteen times.  Went to see a doctor downstairs my place and prescribed with antibiotics - ciproflaxin.  It helps in a way.  However still very gassy tummy while blogging this.  The doctor told me that she saw about 20 patients before me also having about the same problems as me.  Seems like the germs is in the air and I could have caught it while seeing doctor for my right foot injury at the polyclinic.  One should always use the hand sanitizer and wear a mask at the polyclinic which I didn't.  Sigh....

So from my right foot injury and now to the intestine infection.  Poor me.  Praying for a speedy recovery.  In view of my current condition, I view being able to walk and eat is a blessing.  Don't take for granted the normal everyday activities that we are able to perform.

So basically now my diet is to drink more fluid, such as 100 plus, clear soup and need to eat plain porridge while recovering from this intestine infection.  The doctor told me if I still have diarrhea later, I must go polyclinic to do a stool test and blood test.  I hope I don't have to do this, finger crossing.  Well right now I am still wondering is it true a lot of people are down with intestine infection and/or food poisoning now ?

My foot update

I don't feel like sleeping yet. Yes I know it is late but somehow I don't feel like sleeping yet.  I love the night because it is so dark, quiet and peaceful.  Simply enjoying the silence of the night.

Just now I went to see doctor for my injured foot again. In fact, a follow up. It has not recovered and still am limping around.  The doctor told me the xray showed my foot has torn tendons, torn muscles, torn ligaments and a sprain except fractures. No need to see specialist.   It may take up to 3 months to fully recovered. Was told to be more patience, walk less, rest, rest, rest and more rest in order to heal faster.  I told the doctor my foot injury is since Hari Raya Haji till Deepavali is over and not yet recovered.  I am so upset.  I want my foot to be recovered fully now.

I would say it is healing but not fully recovered yet.  Still walking super slow and limping.  Dr taped my toes last week.  I cannot walk too long and foot feel weak.  If walk too long, will feel painful.

Well thanks to bestie to share with me a link just now for eating to a speedy recovery.  Click here for it. I ate lots of salmon and spinach. Hope it will speed up my recovery of my injured foot.

Somehow I feel tired now and wanna sleep.  Later will have tons of work to do.

Good night and sweet dreams everyone.

Keep calm and move on

Change is constant.  We need to embrace change, adapt to change and be flexible in life.  We never know what is gonna happen to us so live life to the fullest.

Fashionably yours didn't expect my right foot to be injured to the extent of torn tendons and torn muscles.  As the doctor has advised me that it may take some time to heal and I need to be patience.  As a person who is so full of life and zest, I am usually very active, it is very hard for me to accept that I have to minimise movements now.  In fact, I am slipping into depression last week because I just cannot keep still and I miss going out and about.  Now I cannot walk too fast and walk too long, if not my right foot will hurt.  Oh yes I also miss wearing my favourite ferragamo heels.  I keep wearing my fitflop these few weeks.

Yes I may have injured my right foot and cannot walk too much. I need to minimise movements in order for my injured foot to heal faster. Thank God I can still work from home. Things are done and delivered in the office.  It doesn't mean I cannot do certain things. I am doing things differently and get it delivered promptly.  Praise the Lord.

In a way good that I can work from home, take it as a drill for emergency and crisis situations.  Example, usually Nov and Dec are the rainy seasons, if all the roads in Singapore are flooded, we still can work from home and delivered the job.  Also another example is dengue fever red alert, SARS, dangerous haze level and bird flu, these are times when staff would need to work from home.  How many of you and/or your organisation are ready for such emergency and crisis situations ?

Despite my current condition, I tell myself I have to keep calm and move on.  I just need to be patience, be a good girl, walk less and rest well.  My foot will heal soon.  Then I can go out and about to hang out with my friends again, as well as back to work in the office.

God bless me a speedy recovery.  Amen.

My foot and my food

Fashionably yours injured foot is making me slipping into depression. Feel frustrated being not able to move around much in order for the foot to heal faster.  Hence I will listen to my body, taking a back seat to rest, rest, rest, rest and more rest.  Despite that I am working from home while my right foot is recovering.  It will be minimum disruption at work and business as usual.  However it is super duper busy working from home. It is not easy.  So many phone calls, emails to reply, meetings to arrange, etc.  Thanks to  amazing technology, nowadays everyone can work anytime, anywhere as long as there is internet access.  Ideally to have VPN - Virtual Portal Network, from the company.

With my laptop and mobile phone, I would say I can work anytime and anywhere.  I must know where to draw the line as I usually work beyond 6pm.  Tons of work to clear everyday. Maybe I enjoy my work too much that I just keep doing and forgot about knocking off work time.

Enough said about my injured foot and working from home experience.  Fashionably yours need some food to cheer myself up. Yummy food will cheer me up.

Torn tendon and muscle

Had xray on Monday and found out my right foot had muscle and tendon torn. Doctor gave me medical leave and stated light duty from now onwards till early Nov 2013.  First time in my working life that got doctor stated I need light duty due to injury.  Perhaps I have been working too hard that God want me to take a backseat and slow down.  Hence the foot injury.  In life, most things happen for a reason.

Told to rest a lot and minimise movements.  Have been working from home and not stepped into office for more than a week.  Just now, my colleagues asked me when I am going back to office.  Got things waiting for me to handle.  Guess I need to rest and work from home for one more day. Hopefully by Thursday I can go back to office. My colleagues told me my office desk is piling up with letters.  OMG ! cannot imagine the piles of letters.  Yes have been working from home but there are some limitations and still need to go into the office to settle.

Hope my foot injury can recover by early Nov so that I don't have to see the GP to get referral to see a specialist.  Well shall not think too much on it,  just need to get ample rest and walk less, I am sure my foot will recover very soon.  The doctor said it takes about 3 weeks for torn muscle and tendon to heal. The doctor told me because I am so slim that I don't have much fats to cushion the fall, so the impact of injury is higher than those with fats to cushion.  So sometimes it is a blessings to have some fats in the body.

Foot Injury

Fashionably yours injured my right foot since last weekend. Had tripped in my bathroom kerb and bear with the pain till Wednesday then went to see company doctor. Doctor said I had sprained my foot.  Given some pain killers and went home to rest.  However the pain got worst on Thursday dawn at 4am that it woke me up.  Can you imagine fashionably yours woke up at 4am and sitting in my hall popping pain killers while most of you are zzzzzz......This painful foot also gave me fever.  In pain and having fever is no joke.  I was so tired that I couldn't go to work so decided to see doctor on Thursday since I had fever.

Went to polyclinic to consult the doctor and was told no need to xray.  Don't think there is any fracture and even if there is, should be a hair line crack. The only cure is go home to rest, less walking and rest, rest, rest in order to recover faster.  So was given two days of medical leave to rest at home plus tons of painkillers.

Since I am feeling so miserable and tired due to the pain, decided to have some comfy food.  Had my favourite comfy yummy sliced fish bee hoon soup for lunch on Thursday.  It seems to cheer me up a little.

Comfy and yummy sliced fish bee hoon soup

Then I had a packet of my favourite M & M chocolates which lifts my mood a little more.

M & M  chocolates

After my lunch and M  & M chocolates, had a good rest and nap in the afternoon. So I am a good girl following the doctor's instruction.  It was evening by the time I woke up so I looked out of my window.  Saw the beautiful sunset and took the snapshot below.

Beautiful sky in the evening

Well, fashionably yours is now in a relationship with pain killers because have been popping them since my foot injury.  I know it is bad to take too much pain killers. Will try to bear with the pain and reduce popping pain killers.  I have been siting down too much and having back ache.....sigh.....wish my foot faster recover.  The doctor said it takes at least a week.  Looking forward to that day so that I can wear my favourite and comfy pair of ferragamo heels again.  For now, I have to  wear my comfy pair of  fit flop everywhere.

Celebrate the simple life everyday

Time flies and it has been about 8 months since fashionably yours last blogged.  Thank you for supporting my blog despite not blogging for so long.  Well fashionably yours is excellent, as usual, doing the normal stuff, such as eat, sleep and of course working.  However am very busy working that I don't have much time to shop.  In a good way is I cut down my expenses since not much time to shop.  Yes I still do shop but only buy what I need and not wants.

Glad I took the leap of faith in my profession.  Not gonna discuss about work here but just feel that I have grown and learnt a lot during the last six months and counting.  Things that I would not have come acrossed if I had stayed in my old division.  One thing for sure is change is constant.  We must always adapt to it.  If you don't add value anymore in what you are doing, it means time to move on.

In fact, one doesn't need much to survive, just the basic will do.  Sun, fresh air and clean water.  I am grateful when I could open my eyes everyday when I wake up in the morning to breathe the fresh air and see the ray of sun shining through my windows or listen to the rhythm of the falling rain.  We can be happy everyday living the simple life.  One don't need to own many branded goods or attend the most posh events and parties in town to be happy.  What does happiness mean to you ?  To me, being alive is happiness :)  Simplicity is bliss and I enjoy my privacy.

Met my workspouse for lunch last week and he told me that I am looking better than last time.  It glows on my face. Yes indeed though my new role has kept me super busy yet fashionably yours has gained about 4kg since moving to my new division for only about six months.  I organised  lots of corporate events and so much eating *LOL*   If anyone of you have any good food caterers, feel free to recommend to me because I am in charge of ordering yummy food for our corporate events.

Oh la la......talking about food at this wee hour. Oh my.....making my tummy growling.  Nevertheless I just had some kettle brand honey Dijon chips which is my favourite. I think my favourite past time is eating nowadays.  Recently there is the launch of a famous donut outlet at Orchard Road. I shall not mention the name here since they are not asking me to endorse.  I find it amusing seeing people lining up before the store open for business.  It is only donuts, don't get too excited.  There are better things to do than to form line. Maybe Singaporean favourite past time is lining up.  They can line up for lots of stuff, such as buying iphone, ipad, donuts, fast food hello kitty, etc.......With so much training on lining up, can they line up properly when boarding the bus and train ? hmm....not so sure on this though hahaha......

Besides working, fashionably yours enjoy cooking simple and healthy food. It helps me to destress.   Perhaps I should blog about my cooking someday and post pictures to share recipes.  Just now I cooked spinach and mushroom soup.  Yummy.

Fashionably yours took leave on Monday to rest and relax, enjoy this long weekend,  Have been working so hard.  Hence glad to take this short break for a breather.  Wishing all Muslims friends Selamat Hari Raya Haji. Happy holidays to the rest of my friends and readers.

Let's celebrate the simple life everyday.

Cheers

Frasers Centrepoint Malls Share to Care Donation Drive

It is Chinese New Year (CNY) Eve.  Time to say goodbye to Mr Dragon and hello Mr Snake.  Yes we will be entering the year of the snake very soon.  Fashionably yours have been on leave the last few days and very busy with the spring cleaning and CNY preparations at home.  Phew ! finally all the spring cleaning has been done by Thursday afternoon.  Spent Friday doing grocery shoppings at the supermarket.  It was so crowded and most of the food supplies were being snatched up by consumers.  Seems like world war and people are stocking up their food supply.  Thank God I am able to grab the food stuff which I need from the supermarkets.

It has been raining these few days and the weather is so cooling.  One thing good about doing spring cleaning on rainy days is that one hardly sweat that much.  Fashionably yours feel so tiring after all the spring cleaning.  I cleaned my whole house all by myself, scrubbed every corner of the house and my two big bathrooms.  It was no easy feat and feel so tiring.  Nevertheless, the house is now spick and span.  We are ever ready for CNY and relatives CNY visitings now. Hope you are also done with your spring cleaning and CNY preparations by now.

On another note on charity drive, fashionably yours would like to encourage people to do some charity.  Let us not forget to help the less fortunate while we are celebrating CNY.  Your little effort mean so much to them and make a difference to their life.  You can do your part by going down to any of the Frasers Centrepoint Malls to donate.  Just SGD2/- for each charity coupon, you can help the less fortunate.  All proceeds will go towards helping social service programmes supported by Community Chest.  This Frasers Centrepoint Malls share to care donation drive is from 14 December 2012 to 22 February 2013.   The malls are :

The Centrepoint
Causeway Point
Compass Point
Northpoint
Changi City Point
Eastpoint Mall
China Square Central
Robertson Walk
Bedok Point
YewTee Point
Anchorpoint
Valley Point

So while you are doing your CNY shoppings, do drop by any of the abovementioned malls to buy a Ticket priced at SGD2.  Your little efforts go a long way.  Thank you in advance for your effort.

Yes of course fashionably yours have done my part in this donation drive, don't hesitate, now it is YOUR TURN.
