ION Orchard Opening - 21 July 2009

Went to ION Orchard on their first day of opening at Orchard Turn. It is a huge shopping mall with 8 levels of shops and 70% of the shops are open. From level B1 to B4 are high street labels shop while from Level 1 to level 4 are high end boutiques. It was not so crowded while I was there during noon and evening. Everybody is talking about the VIP 10K toilet at ION Orchard L2 which only dignitaries and celebrities can use. There are 2 such VIP toilets where the toilet bowl is make of gold and have chandeliers lights and black and gold marble. What a luxurious toilet.

The shops which Fashionably yours saw and can remember are Mango, Zara, Guess, Bebe, Watson, Li Ning, Rubi shoes, Steve Madden, ThirtySix Market place, Miu Miu, Prada, LV, Cartier, Valentino, IWC, Alldressedup (not yet open) and many more restaurants. I find ION Orchard similar concept with Vivo City. Guess all the malls looks the same. My favourite is still Paragon and Ngee Ann City. I would say can give ION Orchard a miss, nothing special except maybe can eat at the foodie place only. However I like the underpass link (ION Paterson link) at B2 to Wheelock place - another of my favourite mall. There are retail outlets at the link, such as Dunkin Donuts. B2 is also the direct link from Wisma Atria and Orchard MRT station.

My friend who was also there commented that nothing to shout about other than it's got the best location in orchard road, just another typical shopping mall The carpark layout suckz, narrow space and spiral turning which makes your head dizzy after driving up, expensive parking rates, about $2.50/hr if he remembered correctly.

That's the feedback on ION Orchard and guess it will be very crowded over the weekends. Thus expect heavy human and traffic jam. Looks like most people are heading there to check it out these few weeks. Happy shopping at ION Orchard and feel free to share with me your feedback.
